Mrs Howells

Executive Headteacher

Since qualifying as a teacher, I have had the privilege of working with many brilliant staff and children in schools both small and large. I love working in small schools as you really build positive relationships with children and parents alike. I love teaching Science, IT and Maths particularly although I have to admit the children are now teaching me more IT! I am really proud of the ethos and team we have built in our lovely school.

Mrs Marsh

Class 1 Teacher

I am Michelle Marsh, I am a Class 1 teacher (Nursery - year 2.)  and have worked at St Mabyn school since 2016. I am in charge of EYFS, KS1, and Read Write Inc. In my spare time, I enjoy running and have even run the London Marathon. I have three children, I love to travel, and I have been lucky enough to visit a number of different countries

Mrs Shields

SENDCo

I have worked in education ever since leaving school in one  role or another. I worked as a 1:1, classroom TA & HLTA over the course of the first 8 years of my career. This is where my passion for the education of pupils with SEND began! I then qualified as a teacher & worked in several schools teaching a wide variety of year groups for the next 10 years. The majority of this time was spent within small village primary schools.

Alongside my class teacher role, I qualified as a SENDCO & worked as both a class teacher & SENDCO for a number of years before taking on the role of Trust SENDCO back in 2020. SEND provision is a real passion of mine  and I strongly believe that what is best practice for children with SEND is just best practice and  benefits all children generally.

When I'm not at work I live with my family near Wadebridge, including my partner, 2 young children and  our dog. We enjoy walking & exploring in the beautiful Cornish countryside & along the coast near where we live.

Mrs Redford-James

Class 2 Teacher

I have been teaching at St Mabyn School since 2017; continuing as Class 2 teacher, as well as developing my role as Reading, Writing and MFL lead. My love for teaching began on undertaking my first degree in French and Spanish, where I was lucky enough to teach English abroad for a year, I subsequently decided to complete my PGCE to become a primary school teacher afterwards! I feel very lucky to be teaching in a school that holds links to my own family, who were born in St Mabyn and attended our school in the 1860s.

Mrs Carless

Secretary

I have been working at St Mabyn School since 14th March 2022, but have had previous experience in other small schools within the academy. I am really enjoying my role and I feel so lucky to be able to work in this environment with such lovely staff and children. When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family.

Mrs Maria Carey

EYFS Practitioner

During the last couple of years I took up running for my health and well being. Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to run couple of half marathons to help raise awareness and funds for two very good causes, Cornwall Hospice and Women’s Aid.

I enjoy spending time with my loving family and having fun in the great outdoors.
