Welcome to Class 2
This half term our topic is 'Curious About Cornwall '. In Literacy, we will be creating work around our Cornish text 'The Mousehole Cat'. As well as this, we will be researching Cornish food dishes and writing instructions for pasty recipes leading to making our own pasties!
In Maths this term, we are focussing on multiplication and division, money, statistics, length and fractions. We are also placing a strong emphasis on times tables work especially for the Year 4s who have the new statutory times-table check coming up this Spring. We are continuing to use our new 'Power Maths' scheme.
In Science we are exploring electricity. Can you make a battery from a lemon?! We are also very excited to be getting chicks in Class 2!
In Geography we will be getting to know Cornish landmarks and places, while History will teach us all about Cornish Tin Mining.
PLEASE REMEMBER THE YEAR 4 MULTIPLICATION TABLES CHECK THIS YEAR. PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRACTISE TIMES TABLES AT HOME!
Thank you for your continued support with the children's learning at home. This term the children will be given a homework grid the activities are to designed to last for a half term. Children choose at least one activity to do over each half term and hand it in on the last week of the half term.
Please keep up reading everyday (record this in the reading record) and accessing Maths through Sum Dog.
The children also have a homework book that will be brought home every Friday. This will have English or Maths homework in it and needs to be handed in the following week.
If you could continue to encourage the children to practise their times tables too, that would be great!
If you would like to come and have a talk to me about what is happening in class, you are more than welcome
Thank you for your support,
