Welcome to Class 2
This second Autumn half term, our topic is 'Vicious Vikings '. In Literacy, we will be researching the Viking raid on the Lindisfarne Monastery and writing newspaper articles to report on our findings. As well as this, we will be looking at the story of 'Elf Road' and creating our own portal stories. We will be reading some of Cressida Cowell's 'How To Train Your Dragon'.
In Maths this term, we are focussing on multiplication and division, different kinds of numbers (e.g. square and cubed) and times tables work. We are continuing to use our new 'Power Maths' scheme. In science, we are exploring forces and magnets. Is it possible to lift a book with a straw?
Geography will bring map work and plotting those Vicious Vikings routes to Britain. History is going to be packed with Viking fun, Viking artefacts, making Viking fact pop up pages, learning all about Viking Longships and then painting them!
PLEASE REMEMBER - WE WILL BE PARTAKING IN THE OPTIONAL YEAR 4 MULTIPLICATION TABLES CHECK THIS YEAR. PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRACTISE TIMES TABLES AT HOME!
Thank you for your continued support with the children's learning at home. This term the children will be given a homework grid the activities are to designed to last for a half term. Children choose at least one activity to do over each half term and hand it in on the last week of the half term.
Please keep up reading everyday (record this in the reading record) and accessing Maths through Sum Dog.
The children also have a homework book that will be brought home every Friday. This will have English or Maths homework in it and needs to be handed in the following week.
If you could continue to encourage the children to practise their times tables too, that would be great!
If you would like to come and have a talk to me about what is happening in class, you are more than welcome
Thank you for your support,
