Welcome to Class 2
This Autumn term, our topic is 'Wonderful Woodland'. In Literacy, we will be reading 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' and examining how the woodland is described. We will be diary writing and writing letters from character points of view and looking at the beautiful descriptions and language used throughout the book. We will also be writing information texts about our favourite woodland animals and enjoying woodland poetry. In Maths this term, we are focussing on place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division and times tables work. We are excited to be using our new 'Power Maths' scheme! In topic and science, we are exploring living things and with a particular focus on woodland animals, trees and plants. We will be looking at life cycles, adaptation, reproduction, and even planting trees and plants ourselves! This half term will be packed with lot of outdoor learning and investigating too!
PLEASE REMEMBER - WE WILL BE PARTAKING IN THE OPTIONAL YEAR 4 MULTIPLICATION TABLES CHECK THIS YEAR. PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRACTISE TIMES TABLES AT HOME!
Thank you for your continued support with the children's learning at home. This term the children will be given a homework grid the activities are to designed to last for a half term. Children choose at least one activity to do over each half term and hand it in on the last week of the half term.
Please keep up reading everyday (record this in the reading record) and accessing Maths through Sum Dog.
The children also have a homework book that will be brought home every Friday. This will have English or Maths homework in it and needs to be handed in the following week.
If you could continue to encourage the children to practise their times tables too, that would be great!
If you would like to come and have a talk to me about what is happening in class, you are more than welcome
Thank you for your support,
